Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) has, just like the other pregnancy related disorders, several risk factors, like family history and high BMI (overweight). Many women don’t develop GDM although they have a higher risk based upon these factors. Research by IQ Products has resulted in a marker with an odds ratio of 3.75 and a high negative predictive value of more than 80%. With Pregnostic^®-GDM there is an additional assessment of the risk of the development of GDM later during the pregnancy of women with a normal BMI. An ELISA based kit, with the product name Pregnostic^®-GDM, will be available for research in cooperation with IQ Products.
